School Security
At Brierton Community School we want to ensure the safety of all users of the buildings, to maintain uninterrupted teaching and learning for all, and to protect property against theft, damage and fraud.
Every member of the school community, staff, pupils, parents and other visitors to the school site must follow school procedures whilst on site.
Electronically operated doors allow access to the building and are closely monitored and controlled. The only access to the building during the day is through the visitors' reception doors or the student entrance, both of which are locked electronically and controlled by reception staff. Members of staff working in the building are able to gain access through a number of doors by using a specially programmed key fob.

All visitors must report to the visitors' reception where their business is recorded and they are issued with a security badge. Any person visiting the site who does not wear a security badge is reported as an intruder and this is recorded in the school office. Our Premises Manager assists with pupil security and deals with intruders.
The school is monitored extensively by internal and external CCTV cameras. Each camera produces an individual digital display on a multi-screen and this technology allows us to record in detail movement inside and outside of the building.
Charging and Remission Policies
As neither the school nor the Local Authority has the necessary financial resources, they will not fund the costs of education provided for registered pupils wholly or mainly outside school hours, or other activities, which are not an essential part of the curriculum. Parents are asked to confirm in advance that they wish their children to take part in these 'optional extras' and will pay the cost of participation. Similarly, parents are asked to pay the cost of ingredients and materials when they wish to own their children's finished products arising from participation in practical work. (The full charging and remission policy is available for inspection in the school office).
Complaints, comments and compliments
We are always interested in your comments about the school. An annual questionnaire is distributed to all parents and the feedback given is used to help us improve the school further.
If you do have a particular concern about any aspect of school life, please contact your child's Progress Leader or the Head Teacher. The school has a formal procedure for complaints which is available on application.
