Community

Working with the community and communicating to parents is important to us at Brierton Community School. The school has established close links with the local community, visiting partner primary schools and conducting work experience visits. Many organisations from the community visit the school, such as the police, fire service, theatre groups and local businesses. In addition, Brierton Community Sports Centre offers an excellent facility for use by members of the local community. The Sports Centre also hosts major events, including the Tees Valley Partnership Youth Games.

A Partnership for Learning

Good education is about a partnership between pupils, home and school. We believe it important to be clear about expectations and, in common with other schools, have a Home-School Agreement which parents/carers and pupils will be invited to sign on admission. The Agreement has been developed using the words and ideas of pupils, parents and teachers; we believe it underlines our commitment to partnership.

A copy of the Home-School Agreement is included at the back of the prospectus.

A school newsletter is published termly keeping you up-to-date with school events, information, achievement and developments. Parents are invited into the school at particular times in the year to meet and consult with staff on the progress of their child. The school has an Open Evening when parents can visit the school and observe the work that goes on. Parents/Carers are always welcome to the school and encouraged to become involved in school activities, field trips, residential visits and ‘out of hours’ learning activities.
