We encourage pupils to be responsible for their own learning, to know how well they are progressing and to ask for help when necessary. A very important part of this learning is the work done at home. It may be revising classwork, preparing for the next lesson, finding out information from the internet, books, TV and the local environment, or recording of ideas covered in lessons.
Parents can help children with homework by:
providing a suitable, quiet place in which to work
checking through their work to see they have done their best
testing them on things they have been asked to learn
listening to them read
asking them what they have been doing
letting us know if they are having problems with homework
A laptop computer is available on loan from the school for all students.
At the start of each term, all pupils in Years 7-11 are issued with Personal Learning Logs that enable them to record their work and plan to meet deadlines. The Learning Logs are checked regularly in school by tutors and we also ask parents to sign them weekly.
