Organisation of Learning/Special Educational Needs
We are committed to offering an inclusive curriculum for all pupils. The school is also additionally resourced to meet the needs of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We aim to allow all students access to mainstream provision through appropriate learning support so that they can make the best possible progress. Our school building is mainly single storey but has several levels to the ground floor, with small numbers of steps. We have a stair lift fitted to one of these sets of steps to improve access to the school hall and the Sports facilities and further lifts are planned.
We have a strong and successful Inclusion team which works to meet the needs of pupils through:
- Dialogue with parents
- Close links with partner primary schools
- Educational psychologists and other support services
- Individual help in class from our team of learning support assistants
- Withdrawal for small group work, and individual programmes of work
- Focused support from our very experienced learning mentors
- Careful planning of lessons
